Fulvio Rifuggio

Biography

He was born in Tricase (Lecce) in 1980. After graduating in Performing Arts from University of Bologna with a thesis about Carmelo Bene's cinema, he wins a contest writing an essay about Japanese cinema, “L’idea La carne La macchina”, and leaves for Japan, where he can study Japanese culture. After that, he works as an editor for Michele Frascaro's documentary "Da sud a sud", about the World Social Forum in Nairobi, and for Donato Nuzzo's "La scala, lu vinchiu, la serra”, about olive tree's trimmers in Puglia. In 2009 he works as a voulounteer in the desert in Algeria, shooting photos and videos of the refugee's lives. In 2011 he creates, along with Donato Nuzzo and Isidoro Colluto, the production company Mexapya, in which he works as a director and editor, making "In nome del Padre" (2011), a documentary about Italian emigration in Switzerland, "L'Eterneide" (2013), about people who worked in Niederurnen Eternit factory in Puglia, "Lo spirito del Grano" (2014), about organic and biodynamic agriculture in Italy, and "Alone we stand" (2015), a documentary about a theatrical spectacle in Palestine.
